Freebies for St Patrick

I just don't know where the time is going. It seems like just yesterday that we were planning for Christmas, and BOOM! now it's almost Easter! Although I wish somebody would tell the weatherman - today we've had the most horrible snow flurries and daytime temperatures of minus 2 (all thanks to that guy they call Mr Windchill Factor..)!

So, in just 6 days we have another holiday upon us - St Patrick's Day. Being Welsh myself, I'm not quite sure I understand the wholesale buy-in to this day, but I am so thankful to my Irish neighbours for giving us the excuse to celebrate - I definitely buy-in to the whole concept of a holiday...!

I've seen some fantastic stuff flying around in Blogland - I wish I was a kid with teachers as inventive as you. I've been busily trying to completed a few bits and pieces of my own - one in particular has been on TPT and TN for a while now, but I clean forgot to blog about it...! So I thought I'd post a quick reminder of the freebies and low priced items you can snag from my shops, just in time for the big day. As most of these are my efforts from last year, they are not available on TN (too lazy to post...). Pop along to my shop to see lots more St Patrick's Day items, as well as a whole host of spring and Easter stuff.

Are you looking for something a little bit different for St Patrick's Day? Then look no further.

This is a great maths and science investigation that your children are sure to love. Children plan and carry out a fair test to find out whether a tall child can jump further than a short child and vice versa. Children plan who will be responsible for each task, what resources they will need and how they will measure (standard or non-standard measurements). They measure each other and analyse the results. They then use the information they have gathered to make predictions about who will jump the furthest. Finally, they record the outcomes of their test, and graph the results. Children are encouraged to work together as a team. The activities introduce children to fair testing, surmising and prediction, as well as developing their skills in recording scientific experiments. Running through the whole investigation is a strong maths theme.

The pack includes:

Planning sheet
Height record sheet
Measuring analysis sheet
Predictions sheet
Jump record sheet
Jump analysis sheet
Graph sheet with scale pre-marked in 10cm intervals
Graph sheet left blank for own scale

This resource is fully aligned to the following CCSC standards for G2 Maths:

2.MD.1
Measure the length of an object by selecting and using appropriate tools such as rulers, yardsticks, meter sticks, and measuring tapes

2.MD.3
